Meet Your Executive Committee
President: Megan Rogers
Class of 2007, Bachelors of Science, Biology
Home Town: Detroit, MI
Upon graduation, Megan was an active member of the HU Alumni Club of Atlanta before moving back to Detroit, MI in 2011. Since then, she has been active in the HU Alumni Club of Detroit. Over the past five years, Megan has served as Recruitment Chair, playing a pivotal role in recruiting hundreds of Howardites! She participates in over 20 college fairs during recruitment season, a plethora of panel discussions sharing her HBCU experience, and many sessions that expose middle school children to college. Megan also served as President of the Black Graduate Student Association while completing her graduate degree. Currently, Megan works in Healthcare Information Technology (IT) in a dual role as an Instructional Designer and an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Expert. She also has a small business conducting résumé makeovers and IT informational classes. Megan is looking forward to getting more Howard Alumni connected in the Detroit/Metro Detroit area through events and activities centered around common interests!

- Provide scholarships to new and current Howard Students
- Increase Alumni membership and involvement
- Facilitate networking opportunities for Alum in the Detroit/Metro Detroit areas

Vice President: Gerald A. Ashby Jr.
Class of 2009, Bachelors of Arts, Political Science
Home Town: Sausalito, CA
While matriculating at Howard University, Gerald worked with the Office of the Dean of the Chapel as a student assistant opening his eyes to an array of service opportunities. Gerald served as a Chapel Assistant, member of the Howard University Community Choir, and Alternative Spring Break Student Coordinator. Gerald took to heart Howard’s legacy of service learning and accountability and created the Annual Thanksgiving Dinner. Initially the program was developed for those students that attended Howard in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and had no home to return to and over the years the program has grown, offering a Thanksgiving feast for students who cannot afford to visit home for the short holiday weekend. After graduating from HU in 2009 Gerald pursued his law degree at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, graduating in 2012. Currently Gerald works as a Human Resources Director for Team Mental Health Services, and he strives to make a difference in the lives of the persons served through the quality and character of those he hires. Since graduating Gerald has participated in the Detroit Alumni Club initially to ensure a welcome reception for students visiting Detroit for Alternative Spring Break every March. Gerald also actively participates in as many college fairs has he can as a member of the club’s recruitment committee. Gerald seeks to increase attendance at Howard University to ensure the success of our Alma Mater and to preserve the legacy he reveres.

- Create a High School to Howard pipeline for Michigan Students
- Collaborate with local HBCU clubs for service projects and networking opportunities
- Establish mentor programs between current student/recent grads and Alumni Club Member
